In Bellefonte we had quite a selection of B&Bs, Nicole and I finally settled on the Reynolds Mansion Bed and Breakfast on W. Linn Street. The Reynolds Mansion was constructed by Major WIlliam Frederick Reynolds in 1885. Reynolds was a wealthy businessman, landowner, and banker; he even owned the Big Spring until 1879 when he granted it to the citizens of Bellefonte. Eventually the house and carriage house came into the hands of Joseph & Charlotte Heidt, Penn State Alummni. With the help of their son Joe III, they run a fabulous bed and breakfast fully equipped with jacuzzis (it was clear this was a big selling point of B&B), billiard room, study, and many other gorgeous rooms. Nicole and I had a choice in rooms but we in the end choice Louisa's Cherub Room (pictured below).
Our RoomThe exterior of the house is stone quarried from Hummelstown Brownstone Company in Pennsylvania. If you can tell from the picture below the stone has a slight blue cast, lending the the name "blue brownstone." Reportedly 20 Italian stone masions worked to lay the exterior of the house.
